Sheriff-patrolA report from the Johnson County Sheriff says alcohol was involved in the September 10th drowning death of a 20-year-old man in Iowa City.

The report says Nathan Allan Twedt  died in an accidental drowning and the over consumption of alcohol was a contributing factor. It says Twedt was last seen inside the University of Iowa Recreation building where witnesses said he was drunk and confused.

Sheriff’s Department investigators determined through surveillance video that Twedt went into a restricted area and ran to a rear door when an alarm went off. He went out the door and moved to railroad tracks along the Iowa River where a witness saw him go into the water.

Twedt was a student at the University of Northern Iowa who graduated from Lin-Mar High School in Marion.
