There was a demonstration against the election of Donald Trump in Des Moines last night.

About 200 people chanted “not my president” and “we reject the president-elect” as they marched through the area around the state capitol. Nineteen-year-old Maya Moreno of Des Moines was there.

“I just feel like they’re trying to make this an all-white country again and it’s not,” she told Iowa Public Radio. “And let’s not forget who the first illegals were. It was the white man. All the Mexicans and natives are from the Americas. LIke we’re all here, all indigenous.”

Similar protests were held in other cities. Trump took to Twitter to denounce the activity as “very unfair” and the work of “professional protesters” who are “incited by the media.”
