The Iowa Hawkeyes connected on a school record 18 three pointers and rolled to a 116-84 victory over Savannah State in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Redshirt sophomore Brady Ellingson made four of six shots from behind the arc and finished with a career high 23 points.

“I felt like I was in good rhythm”, said Ellingson. “My teammates did a good job of finding me when I was open and that is what happens.”

The Hawkeyes registered 33 assists against Savannah State’s pressure defense.

“I thought our shot selection was really good but I did not anticipate taking 43 three pointers”, said Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. “The 19 offensive rebounds was part of the game plan.”

Freshman Cordell Pemsl added 18 points and nine rebounds as the Hawkeyes improve to 2-0. They host Seton Hall on Thursday night.
