GavelAn eastern Iowa man is facing 18 months in federal prison after admitting to making false statements to the Social Security Administration.

Court information shows 29-year-old Damarcus Liddell of Davenport applied for disability benefits and was sent to be evaluated by two doctors. The doctors say Liddell showed outrageous behavior suggesting he was unable to follow simple commands.

Investigators uncovered evidence that Liddell was faking for the doctors to make it seem like he had a mental illness. It was also found he omitted some other information on the SSA forms.

Liddell pleaded guilty to failure to disclose information and making false statements and was given the 18-month prison sentence.
