Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz expects to face a healthy Tommy Armstrong when the Hawkeyes host 18th ranked Nebraska in a Black Friday game in Kinnick Stadium. Armstrong missed Saturday’s 28-7 win over Maryland with a hamstring injury but returned to practice in a limited capacity on Monday.

“We would be fools if we did not assume he will be in there and playing full throttle because that would be a bad surprise if we thought he was not going to be in and then he showed up”, said Ferentz. “He holds or is tied for about every meaningful record at Nebraska. He is a tremendous player.”

The offensively challenged Hawkeyes rank 121st out of 128 teams in the FBS on offense but are 7-4 and have won their last two games combining the run game with good defense. Iowa passed for 80 yards in a win at Illinois and had just 66 through the air in an upset win over No. 2 Michigan.

“What the game is about is trying to find a way to win and that is kind of where we are at right now”, added Ferentz. “The objective is to have at least one more point than your opponent and we have been able to do that for two weeks in a row.”
