Iowa Network Services Girls High School Basketball Players of the Week 2/12/14

Class 5A: Audrey Faber, Dowling Catholic
The junior averaged 27 points and connected on 71 percent of her field goal attempts in two wins. Faber scored 31 points and blocked four shots in a victory over Ankeny. She was 11 of 14 from the field.

Class 4A: Morgan Neuendorf, Waverly-Shell Rock
The senior averaged just over 23 points, five rebounds and three steals in three victories. Neuendorf scored 31 points and hauled down nine rebounds in a win over Iowa City Regina.

Class 3A: Anna Kiel, Unity Christian (Orange City)
The sophomore averaged 15 and a half points, nine rebounds and shot 71 percent from the floor in three games. Kiel posted a double-double in a victory over Remsen-Union with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Class 2A: Morgan Muhlbauer, IKM-Manning
The junior poured in 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out six assists in a victory over Audubon. She was 11 of 16 from the floor and eight of nine from the free throw line.

Class 1A: Johanna Vaske, Algona Garrigan
The sophomore scored 21 points and hauled down 14 rebounds in a win over cross-town rival Algona. Five of her rebounds were at the offensive end of the court and she made nine of 15 shots from the field.

 

Iowa Network Services Boys High School Basketball Players of the Week 2/11/14

Class 4A: Michael Jacobson, Waukee
The junior averaged just over 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots in two wins. Jacobson scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked three shots in a victory over Southeast Polk.

Class 3A: T.J. Hockenson, Chariton
The sophomore averaged 18 points, 15 and a half rebounds and four assists in a pair of victories. Hockenson scored 22 points, hauled down 21 boards and dished out five assists in a win over Centerville.

Class 2A: Andrew Van Ginkel, Rock Valley
The senior averaged 28 points and eight rebounds in three games. Van Ginkel poured in 40 points and hauled down 10 rebounds in a victory over Sioux Center.

Class 1A: Jeremy Deemer, Lamoni
The senior averaged better than 30 points and nearly 17 rebounds in three victories. Deemer scored 33 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in a win over Orient-Macksburg. He shot 87 percent from the field in the three games.

 

Iowa Network Services Girls High School Basketball Players of the Week 2/5/14

Class 5A: Haley Puk, Waterloo West
The senior averaged 19 and a half points and shot 53 percent from three point range in two wins. Puk scored 21 points, added four assists and two steals in a victory over Dubuque Wahlert. She connected on five of 10 shots from behind the arc.

Class 4A: Reeann McCarty, West Delaware
The senior averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and just over three steals in a pair of victories. McCarty scored 20 points, added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win over Maquoketa. She made eight of 11 shots from the floor.

Class 3A: Kate Walker, Red Oak
The junior averaged more than 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in three wins. Walker posted a triple-double in a victory over Southwest Valley with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists.

Class 2A: Ashley Williams, Lawton-Bronson
The senior averaged 32 and a half points, nearly 10 rebounds, six assists and six steals in two victories. Williams scored 33 points, hauled down 10 rebounds and recorded six steals in a win over Ridge View.

Class 1A: Carmen Subbert, Stanton
The senior averaged 16 points and nine and a half rebounds in three wins. Subbert poured in 24 points, grabbed nine rebounds, added four assists, four steals and blocked three shots in a victory over East Mills.

 

Iowa Network Services Boys High School Basketball Players of the Week 2/4/14

Class 4A: Brady Ernst, Clinton
The junior averaged 19 and a half points, 10 rebounds and shot 77 percent from the field in two games. Ernst scored 21 points, hauled down 10 rebounds and blocked two shots in a victory over Davenport North. He made nine of 10 shots in the game.

Class 3A: Tyler Borchers, LeMars
The junior averaged just over 21 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals in a pair of wins. Borchers scored 23 points, added six rebounds, eight assists, five steals and blocked five shots in a victory over Cherokee.

Class 2A: Kyle Smith, New Hampton
The senior averaged 17 and a half points, seven rebounds and three assists in three wins. Smith poured in 25 points and added five rebounds in a victory over Crestwood. He connected on five of six from three point range.

Class 1A: Mason Speer, Danville
The junior averaged 26 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steal in two victories. Speer scored 33 points, including seven three pointers, in a win over West Burlington and in the two games connected on 55 percent from three point range.

 

Iowa Network Services Girls High School Basketball Players of the Week 1/29/14

Class 5A: Makenzie Meyer, Mason City
The sophomore averaged just over 20 points and shot 64 percent from the floor in two wins. Meyer scored 25 points, added five rebounds and three assists in a victory over Marshalltown. She was six of seven from three point range.

Class 4A: Jinaya Houston, Davenport North
The freshman scored 25 points and hauled down nine rebounds in a win over Davenport Central. Houston also recorded five steals, two assists and blocked three shots.

Class 3A: Brooke Bettis, Albia
The senior averaged a double-double in three games with 15 and a half points and 10 rebounds. Bettis scored 14 points and added 12 boards in a win over Chariton. She was six of eight from the field.

Class 2A: Darby Jones, Okoboji
The senior averaged 17 po9ints and 13 rebounds in three victories. Jones scored 20 points and hauled down 13 rebounds in a win over West Lyon.

Class 1A: London Vais, Adair-Casey
The senior averaged just more than 30 points and 11 rebounds in a pair of wins. Vais scored 34 points and added 12 rebounds in a victory over Glidden-Ralston. She was a perfect 12 of 12 at the free throw line.

 

Iowa Network Services Boys High School Basketball Players of the Week 1/28/14

Class 4A: Nicholas Baer, Bettendorf
The senior averaged more than 18 points and 11 rebounds in two wins. Baer scored 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and recorded two steals in a victory over North Scott.  He was nine of 12 from the field.

Class 3A: Miles Wentzien, Fort Madison
The junior averaged 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists in three victories. Wentzien scored 25 points, added eight rebounds and seven assists in a win over Eddyville-Blakesburg. He was four of eight from three point range.

Class 2A: Noah Hart, Des Moines Christian
The junior averaged 18 and a half points and eight rebounds in two wins. Hart scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a victory over Ogden.

Class 1A: T.J. Bower, Nodaway Valley (Greenfield)
The senior averaged 26 and a half points, six rebounds and four steals in a pair of wins. Bower scored 23 points, added six rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a victory over Lenox.

Iowa Network Services Girls High School Basketball Players of the Week 1/22/14

Class 5A: Grace Vander Weide, Valley (West Des Moines)
The junior averaged 20 points, six rebounds and five steals in a pair of wins. Vander Weide scored 27 points, added six rebounds and six steals in a victory over Mason City.

Class 4A: Grace Redlinger, Washington
The senior scored 18 points and recorded 10 steals in a victory over Oskaloosa. Redlinger also added five rebounds.

Class 3A: Serena Parker, Shenandoah
The junior averaged more than 23 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots in three games. Parker scored 22 points, hauled down 18 rebounds and blocked six shots in a victory over Audubon.

Class 2A: Nicole Miller, North Linn
The junior averaged 26 points, six assists and six steals in three wins. Miller scored 24 points, recorded 11 steals, eight assists and seven rebounds in a victory over Central City.

Class 1A: Kate Patton, Murray
The senior averaged 18 pointsa, six steals and four assists in three victories. Patton scored 21 points and recorded five steals in a win over East Union.
