Without leading scorer Sean Stackhouse Northern Iowa still defeated Illinois State 78-66 in Missouri Valley conference action in the west gym on wednesday night. Stackhouse sprained an ankle in practice prior to the game and senior guard Tony Brus responded by pouring in a game high 31-points. With the victory, the panthers improve to 5-11 in the Valley and 8-16 overall.

Drake closed out its home season with a 64-60 victory over Southern Illinois Wednesday night in Missouri Valley conference action in the Knapp center. The Bulldogs used an 11-2 run to open the second half to take the lead for good. Armand LeVasseur led Drake with 18-points, including four three pointers, even though he was questionable for the game after suffering a concussion in Saturday night’s loss at Indiana State. Joey Gaw added 12-points and Dontay Harris ten as the Bulldogs close out their home season 9-5. They stand 5-11 in the Valley, 10-14 overall.
The Drake women’s basketball team moved into a tie for second in the Missouri Valley conference race after a 73-62 victory at Evansville on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs shot a blistering 62-percent from the field in the second half to erase a three-point halftime deficit and improve to 11-4 in the Valley and 16-8 overall. Haley Sames and Megan Wright each had 16-points to lead Drake.
