Suspicious package prompts evacuation

The Marshall County Courthouse was evacuated for just over three hours this morning after a suspicious package was discovered. Marshalltown Police Chief Lon Walker says the package was reported by the county clerk about9:20 this morning.The state fire Marshal’s office took the package to a remote area where the package was opened. Walker says they determined the package was NOT a bomb.Walker feels the evacuation and concern were warranted.Walker says one street was blocked off during the evacuation. He says everyone was allowed back into the courthouse around 12:45.
