Iowa State University plans a series of events in this new year to highlight technology, space travel and scientific advances. Top astronomers and a former NASA historian head the list of people who’ll be delivering seminars at the Ames institution over the next few weeks.Murray Blackwelder is I-S-U’s vice president for external affairs. Last fall, a seminar on the “Star Wars” movie series drew a thousand students, who learned about the real-life technology depicted in the fictional films. Blackwelder says later this month, a space-based cartoon series from the 1960s will be the focus of a similar seminar.The Jetson’s Film Festival is scheduled for January 27th. Blackwelder says there are all sorts of technology-related events coming up.That “C-6” Virtual Reality Theatre will enable people to become fully emersed in computer-generated worlds.
