Des Moines announces plans for a new arena

Polk County officials today unveiled plans for a 160-million dollar project that will include a new 16-thousand seat sports arena just north of Veterans Auditorium.Angela Connolly is chair of the Polk County Board of Supervisors and says the project would be a major step for the city.The difficult part begins now, how to fund it. Connolly says it will take state and private money to get it built.Officals hope to break ground next year and say the arena could open in 2003.
