Dozens of central Iowa youngsters will get to see their first Broadway show next week — for free. The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines is taking part in a project called “Kids Night on Broadway” for the local performance of “Footloose” which opens Tuesday night.Jeff Chelesvig (CHELLS’-vig) is general manager of the Civic Center. He says kids between the ages of six and 18 can get a free ticket to Tuesday’s show when accompanied by an adult with a full-price ticket. Chelesvig says it’s important that kids see live theater when they’re still young.Chelesvig says the young people will be able to attend a pre-show party with all sorts of free refreshments.The show is the stage version of the 1980s hit movie.
