Governor wants hog call made at county level

Governor Vilsack wants county officials to decide whether toalllow hog confinements in their counties or not. State officials currentlyhold power over where large hog operations are built. Vilsack says it istime to let county boards of supervisors determine their own land-use plans. Vilsack has also expressed support for the Iowa Corn GrowersAssociation’s call for legislation forcing motorists to use ethanol-addedfuel.
