State regulators okay gas hike

January 25, 1999 By admin

State regulators have okayed MidAmerican Energy’s proposalto temporarily raise gas delivery rates to customers. But, the stateUtilities Board did not approve the increase MidAmerican had hoped for. Theboard will allow MidAmerican to raise its rates by one-point-six percentinstead of the four percent requested by the utility. The board now has until August to review the company’s request for apermanent four-and-a-half percent raise in rates. MidAmerican says the ratehike is needed to cover the costs of recent upgrades.
