DEMOCRAT LEGISLATORS WILL MEET WITH TEACHERS ANDSTUDENTS IN OVER 100 SCHOOLS IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS TO TOUT DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR VILSACK’S FIVE-YEAR, 150-MILLION DOLLAR PROPOSAL FOR REDUCING CLASS SIZES IN EARLY ELEMENTARY GRADES. SENATE DEMOCRAT LEADER MIKE GRONSTAL OF COUNCIL BLUFFS AND HOUSE DEMOCRAT LEADER DAVE SCHRADER OF MONROE SAY THE REPUBLICAN’S ALTERNATIVE — A THREE-YEAR, 30-MILLION DOLLAR PROPOSAL — DOESN’T GO FAR ENOUGH. HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADER BRENT SIEGRIST OF COUNCIL BLUFFS SAYS THE DEMOCRATS’ “PARTISAN ATTACK” ENDANGERS THE SPIRIT OF COOPERATION THAT’S EXISTED BETWEEN THE TWO POLITICAL PARTIES.
