Former Governor Bob Ray recovering from infection

ONE OF IOWA’S BEST-KNOWN POLITICIANS IS RECOVERING FROM AN UNUSUAL AILMENT. DRAKE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT AND FORMER GOVERNOR ROBERT RAY WAS RELEASED WEDNESDAY FROM IOWA METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER IN DES MOINES. DRAKE SPOKESWOMANLISA LACHER SAYS THE 70-YEAR-OLD RAY WAS ADMITTED LAST SATURDAY WITH PAIN IN HIS ANKLE. LACHER SAYS DOCTORS TREATED WHAT’S DESCRIBED AS A BONEINFECTION IN THE ANKLE, WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO AN OLD INJURY FROM WHEN RAY WAS IN A PLANE CRASH SOME 30 YEARS AGO. SHE SAYS THE FIVE-TERM GOVERNOR, WHO SERVED IOWA FROM 1969 TO 1983, IS NOW RECOVERING AT HOME.
