Wellmark ordered to pay back insurance money

The Wellmark company of Des Moines, formerly Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa, has agreed to pay nearly seven million dollars to employers and their workers who were denied discounts they should have received. Welmark will also pay over one-point three million dollars in civil fines. The labor department alledges Wellmark negotiated discounts with hospitals but billed clients for full fees.
