Girls State Champions crowned

Lynnville-Sully became the first Iowa school to win three consecutive state championships Friday as the Hawkettes jumped out to a 17-3 lead over IKM at the end of one in a 53-38 victory in the 1A title game. Carrie Norman had 22-points to lead Lynnville-Sully. Fourth ranked Ankeny erased an 11-point halftime deficit to down second ranked Waterloo West 42-37 for the 4A championship. The girls state tournament wrapped up with two morechampionships decided Saturday night. In 2A, Audubon held off Denver 53-50. It was Audubon’s first state title since 1924. Top ranked Washington won the 3A title with a 61-46 victory over Estherville-Lincoln Central.
