Website explains hogs and hoglots

March 15, 1999 By admin

A group of Upper Iowa University students is debuting an internet website that aims to be the ultimate learning source on the hog industry. Thestudents spent some two-thousand hours researching to put the massive package of information together. U-I-U micro-economics professor John Harlan says several sources were used to create the website, which has also been printed off and sent in report form to Iowa Ag Secretary Patty Judge. Before the project, Harlan says some students’ knowledge of hogs came only from Mr.Ziffle’s pig, Arnold, on the T-V show “Green Acres.” Now, he says, they’re experts in the pork field — and he hopes visitors to the site will become experts too.
