Grasley introduced farm legislation

March 17, 1999 By admin

As part of National Agriculture Week, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is today re-introducing vital farm legislation in hopes of getting support. Grassleyis delivering what he calls a “State of Agriculture” address to remind people where the food on their tables comes from. Grassley says the farmer plays a role of vital importance for our planet but the farmer’s work is often overlooked and under-represented. Grassley refers to himself as the only working family farmer in the U-S Senate. He says farmers need to be supported. Grassley reintroduced the “FAARM” bill today, setting up Farm and Ranch Risk Management accounts. They’re tax-deferred savings accounts that aim to help farmers manage the highs and lows of farm income.
