The American Farm Bureau says it cost you a little more to buy your groceries at the start of this year compared to the end of 1998. The Bureau’s supermarket survey adds up the price of 16 items at the checkout counter and it found an increase of 36 cents in the first quarter of this year compared to the same items in the last quarter of 1998. American Farm Bureau spokesman Dave Kelly says the increase is a little above normal. Kelly says the survey does give a good general view of the prices paid for groceries across the country.
