Vilsack defends his appointments to state posts

Governor Vilsack is defending his attempts to appoint blacks and other minorities to state jobs, boards and commissions. The N-Double-A-C-P hascomplained, saying Vilsack didn’t appoint enough minorities to government posts. Vilsack says he DID consult with minority groups and with thestate’s only black legislator. Vilsack’s appointments to key state jobs must be confirmed by a two-thirds vote of the Iowa Senate.
