Des Moines Buccaneers open USHL playoffs

The Des Moines Buccaneers open the first round of the U-S hockey league playoffs tonight when they visit the Twin Cities Vulcans for game one oftheir best-of-five series. The Bucs set a U-S-H-L record by posting 48 regular season victories against just eight losses but coach Scott Owenssays the playoffs present a new challenge.The first round this season will be a five-game series instead of the best-of-seven in past years. Owens says the shorter the series the greaterchance for an upset.Owens says in the playoffs the style of play changes and defense becomes apremium.Games two and three will be in Des Moines this weekend.
