Fire damages Iowa City business

Fire swept through a downtown Iowa City restaurant and apartment buildingthis morning. Reports say about 20 people were evacuated from their apartments after thefire began early this morning in the basement of the sports cafe. Someresidents were forced to crawl under a thick layer of smoke to reach fireescapes. Every available firefighter in Johnson County is on duty, as crewsdouse remaining hot spots. A damage report still isn’t available though adispatcher says no deaths or injuries are reported. One week ago, firestruck another Iowa City apartment house. The bodies of two women were foundinside, though it was determined the fire was set to cover the killings. Noarrests have been made.
