Miler Steve Scott will seek record at Drake Relays

Legendary miler Steve Scott will be in search of a world record at thismonth’s Drake Relays as he attempts to become the first man over 40 to run a subfour minute mile. It was 20 years ago that Scott became the first to run a mile below four minutes at Drake. Scott says at 42, he is not the same runner he was 20years ago but he has been training and competing and feels he can give it ashot.Scott says the Drake Relays mile he ran in 1979 is one ofhis most memorable. Scott says to run a four-minute mile, he has been putting in extra speedwork.Scott says time is running out to break the four-minute mile. He has takenthe job of Head Track coach at Cal State San Marcos and says that becomeshis focal point at the end of the summer.
