Famous author speaks in Cedar Falls

A world-reknown author is giving an open lecture in northeastern Iowatonight. Kurt Vonnegut will speak on the subject “Language and Society” and read fromsome of his works at the University of Northern Iowa’s Strayer Wood Theatre.Vonnegut is likely best known for the novel “Slaughterhouse Five” but haswritten a number of plays, short stories and essays. The 77-year-old WorldWar Two veteran and former Chicago police beat reporter has some Iowa ties.Vonnegut was a lecturer at the University of Iowa’s Writer’s Workshop in themid-1960s, before going on to Harvard & the City College of New York.Vonnegut’s talk tonight in Cedar Falls begins at 7 and there’s no admissioncharge.
