Dan Quayle visits Iowa

Former Vice President Dan Quayle says the school shooting in Coloradounderscores the need for some national “soul-searching” about the morals ofour society.Quayle says the tragedy in Colorado shows there’s a pattern developing.The two young men suspected of being behind the school massacre are reportedto have been fans of shock-rocker Marilyn Manson.While Vice President, Quayle sparked a national debate about theentertainment industry when he took on “Murphy Brown” for its positiveportrayal of a single mother having a baby out-of-wedlock. He says there istoo much violence on television. He says those who produce the shows need tothink about what they are doing.Quayle made his comments during an interview this morning with Radio Iowa. He’ll be in Iowa Thursday through Saturday, with stops in Urbandale, CedarRapids, DeWitt, Bettendorf and Sioux City.
