ISU women honored by legislature

The 1998/99 Iowa State women’s basketball team was saluted at the statehouseyesterday. Coach Bill Fennelly spoke on the Iowa House floor and called itan honor to represent the Iowa State University and Ames.Representative Brent Siegrist of Council Bluffs said the team should becongratulated for its 25 and 8 record — and appearance in the “EliteEight.”Representative Beverly Nelson of Marshalltown said when she first heard theCyclone women had defeated U-Conn, she wondered why they were playing a teamfrom Alaska, as in the Yukon, which is actually in Canada.
