Janvrin battles student in Drake decathalon

Panora native Kip Janvrin is trying to win a tenth Drake Relays decathalontitle but trails his own student after the first day. Kamau Sullivan leads with three-thousand-nine-hundred-27-points, nine ahead ofJanrvin. Sullivan recently moved to Warrensburg, Missouri to train underJanvrin.Sullivan says Janvrin has been a big help, especially with the runningevents.Janvrin is known for having strong second days. He says day one was average.Janvrin says while his days as a national power in the decathalon may bebehind him, he still uses the event to challenge himself.The decathalon wraps up this afternoon.
