Buccaneers look for triple crown

The Des Moines Buccaneers have dominated junior hockey during the 90’s andthey look for a fourth national title this decade when they play St. Louisthis afternoon in the opening round of pool play in Lincoln, Nebraska. TheBucs are coming off the U-S Hockey League regular season and playoffchampionships and hope to complete the second “triple crown” in franchisehistory.Coach Scott Owens will become the new head coach at N-C-A-A power ColoradoCollege once the tournament is over. Owens says he doesn’t want hisimpending departure to be motivation for his club.Out of the North American League, St. Louis is making its first appearanceat the national tournament.Pool play continues through Sunday and following that, the top four teamswill be seeded for the semifinal round next Tuesday.
