Diversity attempt at high school backfires

What was supposed to be a symbol of diversity at a Quad City high schoolbackfired as rumors surfaced about what the symbol really meant.The smiley face stickers were supposed to mean diversity between “preppies”and alternative clothes-wearing “dirties.” Word got out, people not wearinga sticker would be beaten up. The stickers were banned schoolwide. Twostudents refused to take their stickers off — and were suspended.
