Flood victims are encouraed to register with FEMA

Iowa flood victims should call the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s24-hour hotline to register for flood relief in the form of cash grants orlow-interest loans. The number to call is 1-800-462-9029. Iowa EmergencyManagement director Ellen Gordon says there’s a variety of assistanceavailable.Gordon says flooded-out businesses may qualify for low-interest S-B-A loans.And individuals may qualify for “disaster unemployment” benefits.And churches qualify for assistance in re-building after the flood. Gordonsays a FEMA field office will be set up in either Cedar Rapids or Waterloosometime next week.
