Baby kidnap case full of twists and turns

A kidnapping case involving a western Iowa baby has proven to have severalbizarre twists and turns. Sixteen-year-old Omaha baby sitter Karen Peeper returned from Mexico to theCouncil Bluffs area Sunday with three-and-a-half-month-old Samantha Ridder. The two had been missing since May 5th and it was thought Peeperkidnapped the child. Peeper produced a handwritten and notorized lettergiving her custody of the child for life. The baby’s mother Wendy Riddersays the letter only gave her custody for one day. Authorities say they arenot considering charges against Peeper, but are considering childendangerment charges against Ridder.
