Girls state golf tournament wraps up

Team and individual “titlists” have been determined at the Girls State GolfMeet. For the fourth straight year and the sixth time in the 1990s, GrundyCenter won the Class 1-A title. Coach Rick Schupbuch battled cancer earlierthis decade, but has led Grundy Center to all those titles.Also in Class 1-A, Wapello came in second. Valley C-E-W was third. InClass 2-A, Clarinda won the title. Webster City was second. Grinnell wasthird in the 2-A field. The Class 3-A winner was Cedar Rapids Washington. Marshalltown took second. Bettendorf took third. In the medalistcompetition, Kylie Dirks from Grundy Center shot a 161 in Class 1-A. In the2-A field, Ciny Whitmore of Clarinda shot a 158 to be the top medalist. Sara Gilbert of Ankeny shot a 155 two-day total to win Class 3-A andover-all honors.
