Mason City mayor urges violent game boycott

Mason City Mayor Bill Schickel says he wants his city to become the first inthe nation to have zero tolerance for violent video games. Schickel says hebelieves the games encourage violent behaviour. He is encouraging Mason Cityresidents to boycott the games.Schickel says parents should also move computers out of their kids rooms sothey can keep an eye on what kids are doing. He says the community shouldpromote alternative “healthy” forms of recreation.Schickel says he supports legislation to require warning labels on violentvideo games.Schickel says Iowa should take advantage of the national attention the stategets from the presidential caucuses to show it’s responding to the recentviolent events in schools.
