While talks are underway on apeace agreement, the American Friends Service Committee wants the bombing tostop immediately. Spokesperson Kathleen McQuillen says they don’t want apeace deal to be seen as a victory. She says that would make it seem likethe “airstrike diplomacy” is working.McQuillen says they want to see serious negotiations involving the powersin the region such as Russia. She says they also want the U-S to work tostrengthen the United Nations and the rule of law between nations. Sheblames the media for not covering the Kosovo issue in more depth.McQuillen doesn’t believe apathy is why Americans aren’t more concernedabout what is going on in Kosovo. She says they’re not hearing the wholestory. The American Friends Service Committee is a alliance of religious and otherorganizations. They’ll hold a rally at 4:30 today in front of the FederalBuilding in Des Moines.
