Man sentenced in cross burning

A Buchanan County man has been sentenced to 38 months in prison for hisinvolvement in a cross burning incident in July of 1997. 25-year old Howard Soyer is accused of burning a cross in the front yard ofan inter-racial couple in Quasqueton. Soyer was also ordered to payrestitution. Two accomplices have pleaded guilty to violating the civilrights of the couple and are awaiting their sentencing.
