Prairie City turns back the clock to Buffalo days

Today, a small part of Iowa will resemble the way it looked two centuriesago as part of the 2nd annual Buffalo Day at the Neal Smith Wildlife Refugein Prairie City.Refuge ranger John Below says a variety of activities are planned, includingseveral demonstrations by Native Americans.In addition to the buffalo chip golf & buffalo chip throwing contest, severalarea restaurants will hold a chili cookoff, using buffalo chips as fuel.Ranger Below says Iowans who attend the Buffalo Day on the refuge will alsoget to see some real buffalo up close.For more information on the Day or finding the Refuge, call (515) 994-3400.
