Cool temperatures break records

Des Moines broke a 101-year-old weather record Tuesday. National WeatherService Meterologist Miles Schumacher says the high in Des Moines reached only 60 degrees, which is the coldesthigh for June 15th since 1898 when it only got to 64 degrees. Schumachersays there was also a record low set today in Denison. It was 43 degrees in Denison this morning, one degree below the record lowof 44 set in 1942.Schumacher says the normal high this time of year is in the upper 70’s tolow 80’s.Schumacher says the cool weather will likely last through Thursday.
