Gore visit, Regents meeting tax U of I Union

The University of Iowa’s Memorial Union got a little overworked Wednesday.The Board of Regents Were meeting at the Union and it also hosted thepresidential campaign visit by Vice Al Gore. University officials say theequipment used by the Secret Service protecting Gore overloaded the buildingelectrical system and caused the fire alarms to go off. The building wasevacuated. There was no major damage and everyone was able to later return.
