Clinton officials file charges in 7-year old murder

Charges are filed in the slaying of an elderly Clinton woman, seven yearsafter the killing took place. 31-year-old Kenneth Orte is charged in the 1992 murder of Evelyn Decker. The79-year-old was strangled with a phone cord and her home was ransacked. Ortehad been questioned in the slaying seven years ago but was not arrested.Clinton County Attorney Mike Wolf could NOT explain why Orte is now charged.Wolf says the grand jury made the decision to charge Orte on Sunday butwould not elaborate.Orte is already in prison after a drunk driving crash in 1993 that killedtwo people.
