Doctors use humor in treating patients

Representatives of the Gesundheit Hospital Institute in Washington D-C arevisiting central Iowa this week. Kevin Byrne says a facilityis being built now in West Virginia that will be similar to the one featuredin the movie “Patch Adams,” where health is injected with humor.The Institute is getting a lot of publicity since the film starring RobinWilliams came out last year. Dr. John Glick says Dr. “Patch” Adams foundedthe group of healers, visionaries and clowns working to build a healingcommunity based on humor, compassion, generosity and enthusiastic hard work.Glick and Byrne were in Webster City on Monday to speak at the 9th annual”People For People” mental health seminar.
