A number of Iowa radio stations are getting letters asking for assistance ingranting a wish to a seven-year-old child named Craig Shelford who wasdiagnosed with a brain tumor. The letter asks the stations to send theirbusiness card and asks 20 other businesses to do the same. Gail Whitey ofthe Make-A-Wish Foundation in Phoenix, Arizona, says Craig’s illnessactually occured a decade ago. A decade later, Whitey says businesses continue to send their business cardsto Craig. Whitey says Make-A-Wish offices in Phoenix and Atlanta, Georgia, areinundated with inquiries on where to send the cards. She says thanks, butno thanks. All those unwanted business cards end up in a warehouse where she saysthey’re being recycled. Whitey says if you have any questions regarding theCraig Shelford chain letter, contact Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa inUrbandale at 515-334-2636.
