Cedar Rapids police say shootings a murder/suicide

Cedar Rapids police found three bodies in a northeast side home over theweekend — two human and one canine.Sergeant Mark Andries says it appears to be a murder-suicide — 79-year-oldWeldon Ellingson apparently shot & killed his stepdaughter, 58-year-oldMarilyn Freestone, the family dog & himself. Andries says a neighbor thoughtboth Ellingson & Freestone were in poor physical health.Andries says it is a little unusual for the gunman to have shot & killed thedog during the murder-suicide.While a time of death hasn’t been determined, it appears the shotgunkillings took place early yesterday morning.
