State checking RAGBRAI route for liquor violations

It’s a far cry from the moonshine-busters of the “Untouchables” era, butofficials from the Iowa Alcohol Beverage Division are going on the road forRagbrai.Field auditors are driving the big bike ride’s route this week to meet withbar and tavern owners and law enforcement agencies. Division chiefadministator Jack Nystrom wants every one of the 250 liquor licensees toknow the laws and abide by them during the week-long trek.Nystrom says he and the auditors will drive the 521-mile path from RockRapids to Bellevue at least twice during the ride a month from now, makingsure the state’s laws on alcohol sales and consumption are being followed.Ragbrai runs July 25th through the 31st.
