Golden Bear drops out of Tourney

July 6, 1999 By admin

The 1999 U-S Senior Open is already down one of its top players, two days before tournament play begins in Des Moines. Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus withdrew his name today, saying he needs more time to heal from a hip replacement surgery in January. Another golfing legend, Arnold Palmer, is on the course now practicing and says it’s a shame about Nicklaus. Palmer also has been questionable after he pulled out of a pro-am event last week due to a muscle pull in his rib cage. He DOES expect to play this week.
