Forbes takes campaign on bus ride

Another presidential candidate has embarked on a bus tour — RepublicanSteve Forbes, the magazine publisher, left Boone last night in a bus.During his 1996 bid for the presidency, Forbes made his call for a 17percent “flat tax” on income a cornerstone of his campaign. Forbes iscritical of the tax cut proposal advanced yesterday by republicanCongressional leaders.Forbes says it’s “pitifully small” as the proposed 10 percent income tax cutwould be spread out over 10 years.Forbes says there are other taxes which should be cut.
