ISU shot putter on Pan Am team

Iowa State University shot putter Jamie Beyer will represent the UnitedStates as part of the Pan American Games team in Winnepeg, Canada later thismonth. I-S-U coach Steve Lynn says it’ll be a great opportunity for Beyer.Beyer is a six-time all-american and has won four Big Twelve titles in theshot put and discus. Lynn says Beyer still needs to add some distance to histhrows — but says Beyer has a chance to someday make a U-S olympic team.While he’s on the Pan Am team as a shot putter, Lynn says Beyer also hasgreat potential throwing the discus. Beyer is a junior from Monroe, Iowa.
