July 16, 1999 By admin

Congressman Jim Nussle is seeking one of the most powerful positions in theU.S. House. Nussle wants to be chairman of the House Budget Committee. The job opens up after the next election as Ohio Congressman John Kasich, the current chairman, announced this week he won’t seek re-election.Nussle is the highest-ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee, but seniority will NOT decide the chairmanship. Last summer, Nussle ran for an elected post within the RepublicanCongressional leadership, but lost. Nussle challenged a woman hand-pickedfor the job by then-House Speaker Newt Gringrich.
