Rabies cases found in Ames

The Ames Animal control department is warning city residents about anoutbreak of rabies. Animal control director Lorna Lavender says one dog andone raccoon have confirmed cases of rabies. Lavender says 100 other sickraccoons were found.but none of the other raccoons tested positive for rabies. Lavender iswarning Ames residents to be sure all pets have their rabies shots.Lavender says it has been several years since Ames had a confirmed case ofrabies.
