Flood sweeps into Waverly

One-thousand people have evacuated from the Waverly/Shellrock area due tothe flooding according to Charlie Baier (bayer) of the Hawkeye Chapter of theAmerican Red Cross in Waterloo.The American Red Cross has opened shelters in Mason City, Plainfield,Waverly and Waterloo.Baier says dozens of emergency response workers will be on the scene for thenext phase of the disaster.Baier says the excessive heat is adding to the misery of flood victims.
